Coronavirus – Covid-19

CORONAVIRUS

As we all know, we are being asked to stay home except for any of the following reasons:
· To shop for basic necessities or collect medicine
· To travel to work when you absolutely cannot work from home
· To exercise once a day alone or with members of your household
· We must not leave home to meet others or for any other reason.
The coronavirus situation is fast-moving and there is an increasing amount of information available online. We suggest using government advice to inform decisions and checking advice regularly to account for updates.

A local network of volunteers has been set up. If you are self-isolating and need help with shopping, collecting medicines, dog walking, letters posting etc or just need a friendly phone call please email the clerk who will contact a volunteer near you who will help.

The Talk Community team at Herefordshire Council are also offering support providing a co-ordinated approach which includes support for those who may have financial worries or concerns, or are feeling anxious or worried about the future and the thought of being isolated for so long. Food packages are already being dispatched to people included in Risk Category A and they are working with food banks locally to make sure no-one goes hungry. If you are struggling financially, please get in touch with the Talk Community team and they will help you. Their helpline number is 01432 260027 or you can contact them via email on talkcommunitycovidresponse@herefordshire.gov.uk.
There is national guidance for those who believe they should be shielded but haven’t yet received a letter. The government are aware there are some gaps so if you feel you fall into this category (or you know someone who does), then the advice is to register on the .gov.uk website and tick that you haven’t received the letter. These lists will then be passed to your medical practice to review and confirm. If you need any help with this then please do get in touch.
